With so many Italian players based in Britain and around the world, Football Italia updates you on the latest happenings

January 5, 2009

Adams eyes Obodo
Portsmouth boss Tony Adams has been linked with a move for Udinese midfielder Christian Obodo. The former England captain sees the Nigerian international as the perfect replacement for Lassana Diarra who moved to Real Madrid. Reports suggest that the Bianconeri are wiling to allow Obodo to leave after he has failed to play for the first team on a regular basis. The fee reported is around £5m.

Viola want Ivanovic
Fiorentina have reportedly held talks with Chelsea over unsettled defender Branislav Ivanovic. Italian reports claim that the Serbian international's agent Marco Naletilic has been in contact with the Tuscan side over a loan deal. However it appears that the Blues have refused to do any business unless it's a straight sale and have put Ivanovic in the £6m range.

Hammers lead Raggi race
West Ham have reportedly overtaken Sampdoria in the race to strike a deal for Palermo defender Andrea Raggi. With the Genoa side preferring to take the 24-year-old Italian on loan with a clause that gives them first option to buy him, Palermo have started to have second thoughts. And Gianfranco Zola's side could step in to hijack the deal as they are believed to be ready to pay cash up front.

Chelsea eye Cicinho
Roma defender Cicinho is a target for Chelsea Coach Luis Felipe Scolari, according to English reports. The Brazilian Coach knows all about his fellow countryman and wants to exchange Florent Malouda for the Selecao regular. Cicinho joined Roma in 2007 despite interest from Liverpool and Chelsea at the time. Manchester United were also reportedly keen on him but manager Sir Alex Ferguson was concerned that the player's attacking style of play wouldn't work at Old Trafford.

Gunners look for Rosina
Arsenal have been linked with a loan deal for Torino's attacking midfielder Alessandro Rosina. Reports in England suggest that the loan would last until the end of the season and if successful they will then make a permanent move for the player. The Italian ace could be the attacking winger Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been looking for and the Granata are expected to demand a figure of £10m.
